In this Oscar season when La La Land received so many appreciation, then La La “Lush” should get a huge appreciation too for taking so good care of our skin for the whole year, especially in this harsh winter! Being Organic certified and one of the popular skin care brand they are reigning our hearts and skin. It always gratifies me knowing that in this chemical cosmetic world, there is a pure organic brand which actually leads my skin to “La La Land”. So Today I am going to review on of the best seller face mask from Lush “Don’t Look at me”.

A little about Lush

Natural cosmetics firm Lush is a UK-based manufacturer and retailer of environmentally-friendly natural cosmetics and fragrances (including many vegan-friendly products). The company operates more than 900 shops in 50 countries worldwide, as well as an e-commerce site and catalog. Most of Lush’s products are handmade from natural (and edible) ingredients and carry an expiration date. Lush was founded in 1994 by Mark Constantine and his wife Mo, who opened the first store in Poole, England the following year. It is still run by Mark Constantine, who once worked with cosmetics behemoth The Body Shop.

Ingredients

Kaolin, Fresh Organic Lemon Juice (Citrus limonum), Glycerine , Rice Syrup (Oryza Sativa Syrup), Ground White Rice (Oryza Sativa Powder), Organic Silken Tofu, Murumuru Butter (Astrocaryum murumuru), Bentone (Hectorite), Water (Aqua), Rice Milk (Oryza Sativa), Fragrance, Grapefruit Oil (Citrus paradisi), Neroli Oil (Citrus Aurantium amara), *Limonene, *Geraniol, *Linalool, *Farnesol, Blue 1 .

*Occurs naturally in essential oils

Pros

• It is very exfoliating and effective mask which provides deep cleansing nourishment to the skin.
• The base of the mask is kaolin Clay which eradicates all oil and dirt but astoundingly it does not dry out the skin at all.
• It has lemon juice which is recognized for its cleansing, brightening and toning capabilities. It also tightens the pores and lifts the whole face.
• It also has tiny ground rice which gives you a deep exfoliation as you massage gently.
• The next component is the most distinctive one – Murumuru butter which comes from Murumuru palm trees in Brazil. Once lemon and Kaolin cleansed the face the murumuru brings back the moisture to your face.
• It also contains Tofu which might be surprising for you but Soy is essentially helpful in softening the skin and giving a soft glowing look.
• The final nail in the coffin are 2 awesome oils – Grapefruit and Neroli. They act as antiseptic for those who have congestion or breakouts.
• All the ingredients together give a soft and smooth skin and to add to it also has a wonderful lemon-fruity fragrance.

Cons

• If you have a sensitive skin or too many breakouts, this mask might be a little harsh due to the presence of lemon juice and grains causing irritation to the face.
• Although it has been never a con to me considering the great quality but as you know all lush face masks have expiration dates so you have to refrigerate and use them quickly.

My experience

With a sexy name of the face mask and the appealing color and scent this mask won my heart as soon I saw it on display at the Lush shop. My skin is dry and sensitive so I was a little skeptical about the scrubbing part. I applied it gently and it actually did not irritate the skin at all. The exfoliation was not very harsh and provided deep cleaning. I also love the fact that this mask is totally Vegan and contains so high quality ingredients. I think the mix of Kaolin Clay and Murumuru butter gives the perfect combination of deep cleansing and moisture. It really made my skin fresh, soft and smooth and improved my skin tone too. I actually received a complement from my lover that day, that my skin was super soft. Now that really took me to La La land.

Availability

All Lush face masks are only available at the Lush stores because they are prepared fresh and refrigerated. Make sure you check the expiration dates before buying. A 60g small container of mask will cost you around 13 CAD. While some people have told me is a little costly but I totally disagree. Considering the ingredients and freshness of this mask along with the high quality, the price is totally justified.
