A Scalp Treatment Routine – Secret for long hair

“Your hair is the crown you never take off”

Hair is considered as a reflection of identity for all women around the world. Irrespective of size, shape length and color a woman’s hair defines the character and persona to a huge extent. This did not start in current times, in fact hair has been a “crowning glory” for women from biblical times. Starting from Lady Godiva’s naked horse ride covered with only her long hair to “Liberation Hairdo” by female communists and soldiers in China with a short bob cut below the ears, woman’s hair remains a symbol of femininity.

Do you know an average woman spends 50,000$ on hair care over a lifetime and spends almost 2 hours a week washing and styling her hair. After a long experiment with natural, sulphate free, paraben free hair care products, I now have come to a point where I know exactly what routine and scalp treatment my hair needs to stay healthy. So I am going to share my scalp treatment hair care routine on my blog today which i religiously follow every fortnight.

What is Scalp Treatment?

There is a misconception that just applying some oil or shampooing you hair is regarded as Scalp treatment but that is not the case. Scalp treatment is actually used mainly to enhance blood flow across the scalp leading to healthier and long hair. Scalp treatment also varies based on the issue that is faced. For example in order to treat a dry scalp, a conditioner or hot oil treatment will be beneficial while in order to treat oily scalp or acne breakouts liquid astringents or medicated creams can be used to open the locked pores. Scalp Treatment generally includes a scalp message with the required oils or cream on the scalp for extended time.

Benefits of Scalp Treatment

There are numerous benefits of scalp treatment, the most important are as follows:

Maintain Oil secretion – Our Scalp secretes some oils regularly which once accumulated can cause flakes by blocking the pores. Scalp Treatment removes the excess oils from the scalp.

Dandruff solution – I have used so many shampoos and conditioner but scalp treatment is the best medicine and I have got lot of help with this.

Deep Conditioning – It conditions the hair right from it’s root making it strong and healthy.

Fights Hair Loss – Hair Loss is a big problem for all women with long hairs. Scalp treatment enhances blood flow reducing hair Loss to a large extent

Stops having split ends – Split ends are another big problem for longer hairs where tip of your hair does not get enough nutrition causing split ends and finally hair fall. A proper scalp treatment lets the nutrition flow from its root to the tip.

My Scalp Treatment Routine

So you should always take care of your hair by treating it right. I am a huge fan of long hair and literally stopped getting a haircut for the last 4 years of my life. It is not easy to maintain the hair care when you have thick coarse and dry hair.

I follow the below mentioned scalp treatment routine every 15 days which has helped a lot in keeping my long hair healthy and nourishing. Below are oils which I use for my Scalp Treatment:

1. Castor oil

2. Jojoba oil

3. Rosemary oil

4. Vitamin E oil

5. Almond oil

6. Argan Oil

Direction of using:

  • Before applying any oil just comb your hair to detangle.
  • Mix these oil and hit it in the microwave for 3 mins.
  • Take a cotton pad and dip it in the oil and apply on the scalp. I concentrate massaging the mixture on my scalp first and then spread the oil all over my hair finiishig with tip of my hair.
  • Once you are done with the process gently comb your hair because that ensures the oil spread all over your hair.
  • Make a bun and follow with a clean warm towel and wrap it around your head. Wait for 30mins. shampoo and condition your hair.
  • Do not over do the shampoo or else it takes of the natural oil of your hair which leads to a dry hair.
  • After you come out from the shower apply a deep freeze spray that helps to make the hair naturally shiny and baby soft.

I get red bumps on my scalp from time to time so I do a medicated shampoo. I will ask my dermatologist about this!

    • thatneongirl2016@gmail.com April 24, 2017 at 12:02 am

Yes I would also suggest to check with your doctor first. But these organic essential oils have huge benefits and should not cause any bad reactions. Some of them even cures a lot of these kind of issues. Let me know if you finally end up doing this.

How often do you use your scalp treatment? I do something similar but haven’t gotten into a good routine of how to use it yet. I will definitely start trying to do it more often though.
